Sounds like I might be better off using a SLR Magic 10mm mFT (or short Laowa) than my heavier lenses. Steadicam was (still is?) making an arm and vest for one of the Ronins, you might want to check that out. My gimbal adventures were with lighter gear than what you're contemplating, and even that was no fun. You want wide lenses and an aperture which gives you a lot of DOF, so you can't lose focus despite your best efforts.Īnd are you sure you can get an Easyrig to work with all this? The physics of Easyrig/gimbal seem like they'd be all out of whack. I'd also give up any thought of pulling focus. Where gimbals work pretty well is close ups on moving subjects, because the human in the picture distracts the viewer from all the lousy operating which quickly sets in. I eventually bought handles for it, which seemed to improve stability and made it easier to manage, but also made it heavier. Long shots or short ones, if it's too heavy, it's too heavy. You may find it otherwise, at the expense of your back and knees. Rick.lang wrote: Looks like it’s feasible with only the need to keep shots fairly short (unless I added the Easyrig).
